Summer Classes at the 'J':

Splash

Mondays & Wednesdays; 6/21 - 9/1

Take water aerobics, raise the bar on activity level and you have SPLASH. Think of it as “not your mother’s water aerobics”. It’s a fun way to work out and keep cool on our hot summer days. What better activity could you look forward to after a hard day on the job?  We’ll be working out in water at a maximum of 4 feet so swimming experience is not necessary. You will build strength using the water as resistance so you’ll get aerobic, resistance and flexibility all built into one workout.

Meet our NEW Water Aerobics Instructor - Marian Greely

Jump right in – the water’s great! This class focuses on both cardiovascular and strength training while you are staying afloat! Whether you’re trying to maintain your current level of fitness or reach a new level, the added benefit of training in water makes our aqua workouts safe and fun without impact to the joints. Even people who suffer from arthritis may want to give these classes a try!

Ever wonder what it means when a store item reads “low fat” or “no trans fat”? Did you know that the FDA allows false advertisement on a product? If you are like everyone else in America trying to lose weight, 85% of the equation is eating right. As we walk down each store aisle I will educate you, making you aware of what you are buying and the benefits of each item. We will dissect the nutritional label so that you know what you’re putting into your family’s body. Hungry for more food truths? Follow me!

The Biggest Loser Challenge is here at the JCC!

Competition starts June 16
You don’t have to be on the show to lose weight and start your own transformation! The Biggest Loser Challenge is here at the JCC and we have all the resources for you to do it this summer. Start that life you always wanted TODAY!!! Competition starts June 16 so come and sign up in the fitness center and get your initial measurements recorded now. Continued measurements will be taken and recorded at the end of each week and the “BIGGEST LOSER” will be the winner of the grand prize on September 1st

Spinal Flow:

Tuesdays & Thursdays; 6/29 - 8/19

6:30 - 7:30 pm

This program works the ultimate core muscles supporting the spinal column. It is used for those who have lost spinal flexibility due to age, injury or sedentary living patterns such as sitting at a computer desk to recreate flexibility and movement. Spinal Flow makes the spinal column more flexible, releasing blocked areas and working muscles that have atrophied due to lack of use. The exercises are gentle and done while sitting on a chair and on a mat.

Body Blast

Strengthen your entire body with this class that is designed to improve strength, muscle endurance, and burn calories. This is the fastest way to lose weight and get into the best shape of your life.

ARF (Aerobic Resistance Flex)

Mondays, Wednesdays, & Friday at 8:00 am

A Tri-Part Fitness class that utilizes the 3 components of Fitness: Aerobic, Resistance, and Flexibility. For a balanced workout program, each class will have components of all three areas.


Yoga

Thursdays at 9:00 am

Work on body alignment and breathing, lower blood pressure and heart rate stamina, increase blood flow, prevent injuries, reduce arthritic joint pain, improve flexibility and improve strength in this class for your mind, body and spirit.


Senior Forever Fit

Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays at 10:00 am

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity of daily living skills.
